Betting Tips for the Smart Punter

Zurich Classic Tips

Billy Horschel was one of the best golfers around a couple of years ago, winning the Fed Ex with ease and beating the worlds top golfers on the way. He’s been in the wilderness since then with various injuries and drops in form, but now he seems to be finding his feet and it’s time to get on. In Texas he played extremely well and showed that he’s not too far from getting in the winners circle, with a steady display over all four days which ended in a very respectable fourth place, and that was after a great display in The Masters finishing 17th. He won this tournament back in 2013 so has good memories of the course and is my number one pick for New Orleans.

Another player who loves this course is Justin Rose. Ultra consistent the last few years the Brit is putting together a nice looking CV on the USPGA and he can further improve his reputation with a big display here. The defending champion is fairly short but it’s hard to see him finishing outside of the top 5 if he plays his usual game, So get on the 8/1 for Rose to win.

Course form is a big plus around here, so I’m looking for players who are tried and tested in New Orleans. Cameron Tringale fits the bill perfectly and can remove that tag of nearly man that’s hanging around his neck. Four of his last 5 visits to The Zurich Classic have yielded a top 20 including a runners up spot in there. He’s been playing averagely in recent weeks but I fully expect him to step up to the plate at one his favourite courses

Finally my outsider to cause a shock and belie his odds is Chez Reavie at massive odds. He’s an in and out player but comes from the same stable as Kevin Chappell who is having a terrific season. Reavie is one of these players that can shoot a real low score on one day and then blow up the next, so he’s also a good bet for the First Round Leader market. He definitely needs to step up his game to contend this weekend, but at 125/1 a couple of quid each way on both markets is worth a shout.

(ALL 1 point each way except Rose 2 Points win)
