We started off the season well with our pre-season tip of Jorge Lorenzo for the Championship and his win 3 weeks ago sets us off to a great start! Now on to USA where we’re confident we can pin point the value. Very unlucky with Pedrosa’s 3rd place last week and one off the many, but this week there is some good value to be had.
A very eventful 2nd race of the season took place last week in Argentina. Plenty of thrills and spills including two bikes off on the final corner. This weekend we can hope for similar with so many of the bikes at the same level. Marc Marquez won in Argentina and is the big favourite at the Red Bull circuit, but I am backing against the young Spaniard. Although his record is second to none around here, his bike is still looking jittery and I can see him pushing too hard. Valentino Rossi finished second last week and was with Marquez until the enforced bike change pushed him back down the field. An inferior reserve bike wasn’t quite up to scratch and he ended up happily in the runners up spot. I’m taking the Doctor to push for his first victory of the season and his riding style is as smooth as ever and can overcome a difficult circuit for Yamaha. At 11/2 he is a very good bet to top the timesheet.
After a season of injury and poor bike management Dani Pedrosa is gradually easing himself back in to a fighting position. Last week he finished on the podium and one away from the money. He was extremely unfortunate to be taken out on turn one and fell down the field to 11th place, before cutting through the field and claiming third. He’s obviously back to form and also rides well at the Red Bull circuit, so I expect a big race from the Honda man at big odds. Take the 16/1 that he can get his first win of the season, best price at BetVictor.
