Betting Tips for the Smart Punter

Tour heads to the mountains

We’re heading in to the Tour proper today and it’s the start of the mountains. A short stage with a brutal descent that is very technical and will favour the brave. Yesterday we picked another Cavendish win to put us in profit on the first week and today I have three value picks that should all be up there in the firing line.

The GC boys are unlikely to contend the finish but they will have their say in how the race lines up, and whether one of their trains is willing to let the breakaway succeed. Steve Cummings is primed for a breakaway spot and won a similar stage this time last year. Here’s had a great season and if he gets away he’ll be hard to drag back.

I really like the chances of Romain Bardet and the tough technical descent will suit his style. He’s one of the best riders in the pack going down the mountains and is also in good form in general. He went for the in a few stages ago so he’s obviously confident and can have a real crack at victory today.

Dan Martin is also suited to these types of stages and he can punch his way out of the peloton when they get near the top of the big climb. He seems to have good legs and is constantly in the mix for stage wins over the last few seasons.
