The Premier League roadshow heads to Cardiff this week for Judgement Night! The bottom 2 players will be eliminated after the night’s action meaning that we will be saying goodbye to 2 out of Michael Smith, Dave Chisnall and Robert Thornton.
Things look bleak for Bully Boy who has endured a torrid debut in the Premier League. Just the one win over Barney and a draw against Chizzy are his only positive results in 8 matches and he has looked over-awed at times. Smith’s tendency to throw in 2 or 3 poor legs in succession has been brutally exposed by the best players in the world and he will probably be a relieved man when his tournament ends. He requires a win over Phil Taylor and for other results to go his way to survive and that just isn’t going to happen.
What is highly likely however and vastly underestimated by the bookies is The Power’s 180 hitting prowess. BetVictor make Taylor a 13/8 shot to hit more maximums than Smith and this is as good a 13/8 shot as you will find.
Robert Thornton had a fantastic night last week in Liverpool with a win against Smith and a superb battling draw against Michael Van Gerwen. He plays Adrian Lewis in Cardiff and is definitely worth backing on the Handicap market. BetVictor are a stand out 5/6 on the Scot with a +2.5 leg start and that must be backed.
Elsewhere Barney takes on his countryman Van Gerwen and is a ridiculous price at 6/1 to prevail. MVG has shown on a few occassions this tournament that he can be extremely harsh on himself when he starts throwing poorly and has given away points against Thornton and Taylor when coasting to victory. Have a small bet on Barney to win the match at 6/1, but your main bet should be on Barney +3.5 legs at 5/6.
