Premier League Darts Week 12

Thursday’s matches:

Michael Van Gerwen v Peter Wright

Raymond Van Barneveld v Adrian Lewis

Gary Anderson v James Wade

Phil Taylor v Robert Thornton

Adrian Lewis v Michael Van Gerwen

The Premier League roadshow moves to Bournemouth on Thursday night with only 4 more rounds of matches to go before the Finals night in London’s O2. Robert Thornton is out of the running for a semi final spot and Raymond Barneveld needs a spectacular finish and some results to go his way if he’s going to make up the last 4. Taylor is pretty much there and Van Gerwen is a massive odds-on shot too. So that means that we have Lewis, Anderson, Wade and Wright all battling for the last 2 spots.

Peter Wright had an awful night last week when getting thumped by Thornton and he faces Mighty Mike tonight. Van Gerwen is a best priced 4/11 to triumph and you can’t argue with that. No bet for us.

Lewis v Barney is up next and there’s definitely a bet for us here. Barney is 7/4 with BetVictor to hit more 180s than Lewis and this is just too big. He’s hit 36 to Lewis’ 35 this season (admittedly having played 1 more game), but we reckon the Dutchman’s price should be closer to 5/4. Get the value and GET ON!

James Wade has been his usual consistent self this tournament constantly occupying the middle of the standings. Anderson started slowly and has now started to get closer to his best form as we hit the latter stages. This is classic Anderson in the Premier League and he justifies his 4/7 favouritism here. Again we find the best bet in the side markets and here it’s Anderson to hit Over 3.5 180s at a generous 4/5.

Phil Taylor plays Thornton next and is a slightly ridiculous 1/4 for the win. Thornton has either been abysmal (two 7-0 losses) or excellent (106 average in 7-2 win v Wright last week) this tournament so when we see massive prices on him we’re always tempted!

We’re backing Thornton for the win at a massive 7/1 with BetWay and you should have a fiver on it too!

The final match is Van Gerwen v Lewis and there’s always a bit of needle between these 2. Lewis tries harder against MVG than any other opponent and usually raises his game. There have been some memorable tight encounters between these 2 over the years (Worlds 2013 & 2014, World Matchplay 2013) so the 9/2 on offer for a Draw looks like a great bet.
