Liverpool v Sevilla – Europa League Final
Liverpool may have laboured to an 8th place finish in the Premier League this season, but they have been excellent in the Europa League. The highlight is clearly the incredible 4-3 victory over Dortmund at Anfield, but there have been other impressive performances too. A comfortable 3-1 aggregate victory over Man United, brushing aside Villarreal 3-1 over 2 legs. These performances owe much to the experience and knowledge that Jurgen Klopp has in European competition.
But in Basel they are up against a side that knows everything about Europa League finals. Unai Emery is an outstanding coach looking to guide Sevilla to an incredible 3rd Europa League trophy in a row! Sevilla have knocked out some very strong teams en route to the final in Basel, Athletic Bilbao and Shakhtar Donetsk.
They will be extremely well drilled and all the players will know exactly what is to be expected of them on the night. Both sides are unlikely to adopt a gung-ho approach and rely on keeping it tight and hoping to catch the other side on a counter attack or at set pieces.
This has all the hallmarks of an extremely tight game so we’re going for the Draw after 90 minutes plus a small bet on there being No Goalscorer at nice big odds.
