Huge stage for GC boys

pro2punter - Rafal Majka

A huge stage for the GC boys today as the mountains really come in to play and the main players will be sorted out over the first couple of climbs. It could well be another breakaway win as often happens on these big ones on the tour, especially as tomorrow is a monster of a climb and the contenders will be saving their legs for victory on Sunday. Yesterday I picked a massive 22/1 winner with Steve Cummings riding a great race, so let’s crack on and get more profit today!

Another similar day is expected as it was on Friday but this time the break will contain some pure climbers that have no GC ambitions. I really like the chances of Rui Costa who has won stages similar in the past and will be allowed in the break if it gets away. The worse the weather the better for the Portuguese star, so any wind or rain is right up his street.

A pure climber who’s on the radar is Rafa Majka who has already got himself in a couple of breaks and is obviously in good form. After Contador’s poor start Tinkoff will be focusing on stage wins as it’s unlikely Alberto will win yellow. After Sagan Majka is their best bet and he’s also won sinilar stages to today, as well as the polka dot jersey last year.

My big outsider for the day is the enigmatic Frenchman Thomas Voeckler who would love to get away on a stage like this. He’s been seen in a few breaks and has been testing his legs over the first week. Today could be the point that he explodes and goes for the big win.
