Robert Thornton v James Wade
Peter Wright v Raymond Van Barneveld
Adrian Lewis v Gary Anderson
Phil Taylor v Michael Van Gerwen
It’s the last night of League action before Finals night at the O2 next week. There’s only one more semi final spot up for grabs and either Adrian Lewis or Peter Wright will be joining the big hitters Van Gerwen, Taylor and Anderson the the last four.
Up first is James Wade v Robert Thornton with Wade the 4/7 jolly for the win. That seems pretty short to us, but we couldn’t back Thornton with any sort of confidence even at 10/3. One area where both are pretty welll matched is in the 180s hitting. Wade leads 33 to 32 in this year’s competition over 15 games played. We reckon there’s a big chance of both hitting the same amount tonight (probably 1-3 each) so back the Draw in the Most 180s market at a huge 4/1.
Adrian Lewis might not need to get anything from his game against Anderson, but a win would guarantee his place in the semi finals. Anderson is 4/5 to win the game, but again we’re looking at the 180s markets for value. Take the Even money with SkyBet on the Scot hitting more 180s than Jackpot. Only MVG and Peter Wright have hit more than Anderson’s 46 this year and take the chance to double your money here.
No bet for us in Wright v Barneveld so our attention turns to the match of the night – Taylor v Van Gerwen. There will be thousands of extremely loud Dutch supporters cheering on MVG on the night. Both players will be taking this game extremely seriously and not just because of the £25,000 on offer for the man who tops the league at the end of the night. Van Gerwen is undoubtedly the best player in the World hitting a World Record 123.40 average against Michael Smith in Aberdeen a few weeks back. He’ll want to make sure everybody, especially Taylor, knows that he’s Number One.
Van Gerwen won yet another tournament over the weekend in Gibraltar and is in imperious form. We’re backing MVG to hand out a thrashing to Taylor in Rotterdam so take the 5/4 on offer on Van Gerwen -2.5 legs in the Handicap market.
