Betting Tips for the Smart Punter

Brandon Grace a cracking bet for PGA

A very quick turn around for the last major of the year, and Brandon Grace looks a cracking bet for his first ever PGA Championship title. Only 2 weeks have passed since we saw a mammoth battle between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson for the Claret Jug at Troon. Some amazing golf was played on that final round and with the class of the field another spectacle is on the cards.

Our first pick for Thursday is South African Brandon Grace, who was on the wrong side of the bad weather at Troon and never got the chance to compete in the final two rounds. He did well to make the cut but a few mistakes while pushing too hard cost him, but straight away he has a chance to redeem himself and grab that well deserved major. He started the same price as winner Stenson at The Open so taking that one tournament away you can see how well he has been playing. Fifth in the US Open and 10th at Firestone show he’s in form and he has bounced back from disappointment before when missing the cut at The Masters and then recording a maiden USPGA victory, also doing similar on the European Tour.

Phil Mickelson was stunning two weeks ago and would have won countless other Open’s with that score. Clearly in good form and enjoying his game again, Lefty will be suited by this classic course at Baltusrol where his scrambling and short game will come in handy. Although he may have been a bit down on himself after being beaten by Stenson, he will also be boyed the level his game is at and confidence is a big part of his game. Expect another bold showing from the crowd favorite.

Three big prices to have a punt on at the PGA and we start with Lee Westwood who has been thereabouts for all majors so far this season. He’s playing well and tee to green is still one of the best. All he needs is that little spark and a big win isn’t far away. Next up we’re going for last week s selection to have a good week. Jim Furyk loves the PGA Championship and often finishes well up the field. He’s recovered from injury and can contest with the big boys going in to the weekend. Last weekend in Canada he played within himself and was possibly honing his skills for the coming week. Finally another player that has been on the radar all season is Kevin Chappell. So close to a maiden tour victory this season he’s finished top 10 in some massive competitions and started well at Troon until he also found the worse of the weather. If he starts well this Thursday and stays with the pack another good position is in store for the potential najor champion Chappell.
