A big performance for Ryder Cup Snedeker

After the Olympics Golf in Rio many US players are concentrating on the Ryder Cup and qualification to Davis Love’s team. Brandt Snedeker is one man who is on the bubble and with a big performance this week at The Wyndham Championship he can push his way in to contention. It looks like a top heavy tournament in terms of talent and top players, but there are a few guys who can surprise the better players over this tight course in North Carolina.

As stated already, Brandt Snedeker is competing at an event he won back in 2007 at nearby Forest Oaks. That was his maiden PGA tour title and he’s gone on to win plenty since then, often winning tournaments twice, which bodes well for backing him this weekend. His stats stand up well on a course you need to be straight at, and pure ball striking is rewarded. Also putting is a huge part around Sedgefield, where The Wyndham switched too a while back. Snedeker has had two top five finishes and an eight place to boot, which puts him at the top of the market for victory and Ryder Cup points.

Another with a small chance of making the USA team is Kevin Kisner, who probably needs to win here and then perform well at The Barclays finishing well up the field. His form looks to be on the return after a mid season slouch that followed a very good start to the season. His last three tournaments have seen him contend and  he’s a local boy who will garner plenty of support from the galleries this week. Kisner’s accurate irons and better than average putting make him a worth while punt at big odds.

A couple of big speculative picks have chances considering the bookies don’t fancy them. First up I’m going for Jerry Kelly again, who I put up last week but never quite got going and just missed the cut. Take that performance away and he’s backable at 3  digit odds and has shown in the past that he comes good this time of the season. I’m also having a small bet on Ben Martin who was wonderful at The John Deere last week and has also got good stats from The Wyndham in past years. He finished runner up to Ryan Moore on Sunday and that will give him huge confidence to vie for victory at one of his favorite courses.
